If you experience changes in the fit of your dentures, it may be time to get them relined. Most often, these changes come from issues such as the following:
- Lost or broken Denture parts
- Shifting/loss of bone and/or soft tissue in your mouth
- Body reactions to some materials
- Sudden changes in body weight
When our Providers relines your Dentures, they make them conform to any new changes in your tissue and bone structure so that they fit snugly and securely. A good fitting Denture does not necessarily mean suction from it. If you don’t get poorly fitting Dentures relined, you run the risk of developing complications like the following:
- Fungal infections
- Ulcers
- Tissue overgrowth
- Irritation
- Trapped food and plaque
Ill-fitting Dentures also make it harder to eat, talk, and feel confident. On top of that, they can be painful. Regardless of the state of your Dentures, the American College of Prosthodontists recommends that you get them relined at most every three to five years. It is our recommendation that if you have implants you should have them relined every year.
